moving soon

Hey clunker riders - Hope you all had a wonderful holiday. Its been a tough season for cycling since our last ride. Marty and I are well on our way to moving to Atlanta this February.
We are going to keep our big clunker rides going in Atlanta proper, and  hope that the clunks keep happening here. This blog will continue to be "out there" for all to use, and we will be creating a clunker club for Georgia blog, should you decide to visit ATL. It is a wonderful city to cycle in, even though it is ranked 48th in the nation for cycling. Wisconsin is ranked #2! I would think that the month of December we just had was not a consideration in these rankings. We will be cancelling our "new.rr.com " accounts in January, and will keep you all advised of our new email addresses as soon as we know. They will probably be "gmail" accounts. Ride on

Chocolate Clunker update

CCC is on sweetest day, Saturday October 18. 10 am roll out from KaVarna. 15 mile, three hour tour. Significant other friendly pace....meaning slow, or parade pace. Carbon Fiber and racing bikes will be ridiculed. Bonus attractions during ride will be the WEIRD sprint, slow ride, skid off, and the traditional "round-up". Ride is free, but riders are encouraged to purchase the sweet stuff at our stops, Seroogys/Kaaps/Beerntsens, in that order. Fox River Trail pass not needed, as we will not ride it this year. Tune up your ride the day before to ensure we have no issues on our route. FOR SURE, check tires for cuts and proper inflation. Make sure brakes work. Lube chain. Tighten anything added to frame, including wheels. Questions?

Bike@the Moon complete

The pack of dingbells totaled 50 as we headed west from Titletown Brewery. Nice mix of clunkers and cruisers. Ride what you got, one rider said. Smooth street ride out to Pamperin park added 1 rider to pack as he was out riding and hooked up. PP trail was very dark. Perfect. The traditional "round up" preceded the big hill to Legends, THAT WAS CLOSED!!*#??. Then onto the Medowbrook trail, which was perfect. It is about there that the skidding started, and would last the rest of the ride....everyone was doing it. Sprint, slam the brakes, skid. Fat retro cruisers worked best. Since Legends was CLOSED!!#*^, we went to dive biker bar Kims on Velp, and were treated like the royalty we were. Harley guys were out checking our rides out!! It was awesome. Actually, it's a nice place right on the duck creek. Look for ice rides starting there this winter. On ride back in to downtown, the full moon came out of the clouds. Howling good time, man. Thanks all who suffered the hours of no sleep for this PERFECT clunker ride. I know there are some sore throats out there....

There is a new bike shop in the Valley. While attending the midwest classic & antique bike show in downtown Menasha, Pratter was there with his vintage collection, which he displays at his new shop in downtown Neenah, Cranked Bike Studio @ 200 Main St. Their focus is restoring vintage and "garage" bikes so people can get back into cycling. They do have new bikes & stuff, excellent parts selection, and cool stuff. ( full display of chrome mess bags!!) Very Cool Shop. The new clunker club blog

After years of holding clunker rides in the Green Bay area, we have now set up a blog for all riders to use to get the latest information on upcoming rides, questions, ideas, etc. Even though a clunker or classic or cruiser is not an absolute requirement to participate, they are the preferred ride. You can find them on almost any day at curbside, rummage sales, flea markets, and so on. Anyone can post to this blog, and this is the way to spread the love of bicycling. The bicycle is so much more than a fitness or recreational vehicle.
